The Land of Don Camillo and Peppone - « Back to Tours

“Once upon a time there was a small town…..” This quotation is taken from the beginning of one of the films from the Don Camillo and Peppone series filmed in Brescello, a village just like any other: churcg, square, bar underneath the porticoes and houses all around.

At Roncole Verdi there is a permanent exhibit dedicated to “ Giovannino Guareschi” the writer who became famous for creating and dramatizing the stories of Don Camillo and Peppone. The collection includes photographs, notes, drawings and video footage that contribute to recreating the unforgettable world of the “ Bassa” as described by Guareschi.

The writer is buried in the small cemetery in Róncole.
